Nice to see Ray Bourque back where he belongs. Watch for him to take a part time coaching job with the Bruins this week...
Note to CNN. Stop sending reporters out to stand in Hurricanes. You’re eventually going to be sued into next week by the family of the reporter who takes a flying piano in the chops....
Dear media: Knock it off with the take, “this world Series matchup is boring.” Sure, the Yankees and Red Sox being there would give it a little more pinache. But people who say it's boring aren’t baseball fans. Beyond the big two, a White Sox-Astros matchup is as good as it gets...
I can’t even pronounce most of the ingredients Coke puts into their new diet pop, Coca Cola Zero. But know this. It is the best tasting diet pop in the history of man. Everyone hates diet coke because of the weird aftertaste. Zero has none of it. The name reminds me of Robert Downey Junior, who played a coke freak (what a stretch) in the film Less Than Zero.
Nutritionally, who knows? But if you’re drinking pop, diet or otherwise, you don’t care about ingredients anyway. For the record, it features only the tastiest chemicals. Classics like phosphoric acid, aspartame with phenylalanine, potassium benzoate and citrate, and finally, acesulfame-potassium.
But it’s acesulfame-potassium just like mom used to make...

Senator Musings
The Sens quest to improve to 7 and 0 was wiped out by a Hurricane Saturday. Hopefully that trend ends tonight in Carolina...
Over 60 players in the NHL are on a point per game roll right now. It’s an absolute shocker that Chris Neil is among them. It won't continue, of course but it's nice to see a guy rewarded for doing the dirty work in the slot...
We have a long LONNNNNNNNG way to go here but there are a number of scoring surprises in the top 10: Toronto defenceman Bryan McCabe 2nd in NHL scoring with 13 pts (cue the apocalypse). Carolina’s Eric Staal, third in NHL scoring with 12pts. Minnesota’s Marc Chouinard, Colorado’s JM Liles, Detroit’s Jason Williams, among those tied for 7th in league scoring with 11 pts...
The 6 and 0 start is nice and all but let's be sure to keep it in perspective. The headline in the Sun today read, "Murray says Sens Far from Perfect". Really? No kidding? You mean they aren't the 85 Oilers? You mean they won't go 82 and 0? Wow. Shocker. The Sens have nothing to prove during the regular season. They've had success there before and should be fine again this year. All they have to prove between now and next spring is that they can stay healthy (Hasek I'm looking in your direction). After that, everything we're getting all jazzed about now will mean nothing...
Lowell Green from CFRA stopped me in the hall last week and gave me this little nugget about the Martin Havlat kick: “The next time someone who outweighs me by 100 pounds has me bent backward on the net, trying to snap my spine over an iron bar, I’m going to kick them in the crotch too..."
