The accompanying photo is a tribute to Buzz today, commemorating the finest zinger of his career this morning. Now, there haven't been many...but his sexist shutdown of Mrs. Stuntman was truly inspired, almost as if Jungle were using him as some sort of conduit. The T-shirt should be available for Christmas. But I digress.
Hey! The new NHL season is upon us. Here are some sleepers to help you out, courtesy of AJ and me. By sleepers I mean guys primed for breakthrough seasons, comeback seasons or guys some of your fellow poolies may never even have heard of. I'm not saying they will have monster seasons but, unquestionably, their talent or circumstances right now make them better bets than a lot of the dregs you might take otherwise.
Ana - Dustin Penner - saw glimpses of his potential in last year's playoffs.
SJ - Steve Bernier - major impact in 2nd half last season
SJ - Milan Michalek - plays with Bernier and Marleau
Det - Johan Franzen - increased role in Detroit for this talented Swede
Ott- Mike Fisher - (D'uh)
Min - Branko Radivojevic - playing alongside Demitra and Gaborik and Pierre Maguire believes he'll stay there.
Chi - Jeff Hamilton - someone has to score in Chicago and Hamilton led the Hawks with 9 points in the preseason
Edm - Joffrey Lupul - tons of talent
SJ - Matt Carle - Hobey Baker winner and PP quarterback
Det - Jiri Hudler - ready to roll, big preseason
Pit - Colby Armstrong - Sidney's line
Pit - Nils Ekman - ditto
Cbs - Gilbert Brule - should have good rookie year
Pho - Owen Nolan - old but should be good for a late rounder
Pho - Jeremy Roenick - old but should be good for a late rounder
StL - Bill Guerin - o.b.s.b.g.f.a.l.r.
Fla - Rastislav Olesz - might play with Bertuzzi
LA - Anze Kopitar - big preseason
You're welcome. Draft long and prosper.
