An Open Letter to Lindy Ruff

Dear Lindy,

Last year, you went on and on and on and on and on about how Toronto’s Darcy Tucker went after Jochen Hecht’s knee, all because Tucker can’t take a hit.

You, sir, are a class A hypocrite.

You and your team are no more capable of taking a hit than Tucker. On Thursday night, Chris Neil caught Chris Drury with his head down and knocked him out with a clean check. Your response? To put our your goons against the Sens’ skill players and starting a line brawl. Then sending your goon to become a third man in on our goalie after he just finished a fight.

That’s a line I have never seen crossed before. You and Andrew Peters should be ashamed and embarrassed for such a gutless move, a move that violates everyone’s definition of the code.

What’s next? Will you send Peters out to fight Sidney Crosby? Why stop at skill players? Just get even with Bryan Murray by sending your thug to crack Bryan Murray over the head with his stick?

By the way, Lindy, if you really want to protect your players, stop teaching them to dive like little snivelling weasels. They’re showing up the refs and the league. Player that take liberties (Tucker, Ovechkin) with your stars will never get penalties or suspensions if you teach your players to be snivelling weasels, flopping all over the ice. Once they stop, the refs will make calls and you can stop your nightly post game whining.

And last thing. Work on your trash talk. Repeating, “Go ask Peters, don’t go after our bleeping captain” 85 times hardly constitutes trash talk. It just makes you look dim. You can hear some of the exchange with Murray here, (LANGUAGE WARNING!)

I think I speak on behalf of all of Ottawa when I quote Ken Hitchcock from last season. "Tell Lindy to Blank blank." And that applies to the Buffalo media too. Look at the tape, losers. It was a clean hit. If Drury doesn't want to get hit, tell him to keep his fool head up! Or take up knitting.
