Happy New Year

Well, that's it. Farewell, 2007! Alas, we hardly knew ye. If I'm to come up with my favourite sports moment of the year, there's no question. It's Daniel Alfredsson's overtime goal in Game 5 vs Buffalo, giving the Sens their first Eastern Conference title. I've attached one of my blog videos, celebrating the win.

That series was also memorable for me personally, in that I managed to enrage the entire city of Buffalo.

Before the series began, I made another video, in the same spirit that says your-mother-wears-army-boots spirit. A little trash talk - or trash video - you know, to further spark up the rivalry. I posted it on this blog, where Sens fans could enjoy it. However, one of Buffalo's TV stations placed a link to it on their site with the headline, "What Ottawa thinks of Buffalo." Apparently, I speak for the city now.

The video was a parody of the emotional Buffalo Sabres playoff intro set to music by the Goo Goo Dolls. It outlined all the great things about Buffalo. My video outlined all the, um, other things about Buffalo. It received 15 thousand hits and, based on the emails I received, most Buffalonians wanted to hit me 15 thousand times. I was forced to move the video so the Buffalo TV link would no longer work. Otherwise, I'd be forced to move.

Anyway, there are many reasons teams win playoff series. I choose to believe this video was the biggest reason. Happy New Year!
